The Official Site Of Antoine Hood II

Antoine Hood II is a 6 ft 4 inch, 200 lbs NBA free agent combo guard (1 and 2).  Hood is exceptional player who most recently starred on a Select USA Basketball Team playing in China against the top Chinese Basketball League teams. He played with the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets in preseason/training camp, and excelled in the NBA D-League, with several overseas professional teams and with the U.S. Air Force Academy basketball team. A cancer survivor, Air Force Academy alumni, and an Air Force Reserves captain Hood is dedicated to achieving his NBA dream.

As a cancer survivor, NBA free agent basketball player, U.S. Air Force Academy alumni who also earned an MBA, Air Force Reserves officer, published author, exceptional public speaker, entrepreneur and single father of two sons Antoine Hood II is a true renaissance man.  His incredible story provides the background for an unmatched presentation that offers a powerful and inspiring message for any audience.   Hood lives his life with the motivating message of never giving up on a dream no matter how seemingly impossible that dream might seem.  Hood notes that a quote by light bulb inventor Thomas Edison reflects that belief:  “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up….”

Hood’s incredible story began the day he was diagnosed with Non-Hopkins Lymphoma cancer as a13-year-old.  With the extraordinary care at Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas and the support of his family and his faith, he endured nearly a year of chemotherapy and other treatments.  That’s when he knew then that nothing could slow him down. Superior basketball skills and outstanding intelligence earned the native of Sugerland, TX an appointment to the prestigious U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  After graduating with an economics degree and becoming an Air Force 2nd  Lieutenant — where he earned all conference basketball honors, twice led the school to the NCAA tourney, a top 25 national ranking and the best record in school history — the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets offered him professional basketball contracts. He had to decline both offers to fulfill his military service commitment – a requirement for graduates of the Air Force Academy.    He served as an Air Force officer in Texas and Louisiana, earning the rank of captain and working in several important military roles.  All the while his professional basketball dreams and desire to make a positive difference for others never diminished.   Since completing that military commitment Hood has excelled on and off of the basketball court. As a professional basketball player he was twice selected to represent the United States on a select USA team playing in China against the top pro teams in that country. Prior to that, he played in the preseason for the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets, with three professional teams overseas and in the NBA D League (Now the G League).  And he continues to train ravenously to improve and fine tune his game through daily twice-a-day rigorous workouts with one of the nation’s top trainers.   Off the court, Hood most recently became a published author with the publication of a book of poetry titled Hood Thoughts II.  He also stays involved in his community including giving presentations to children to inspire them to never give up on their dreams.  Additionally, he advanced his higher education by earning an MBA.  Hood is also involved in other creative endeavors, the most recent being a partnership with hip-hop artist/lyricist phenom L-Quote. L-Quote, who is also a former Air Force staff sergeant, is creating an album of new music highlighting Hood’s amazing journey. That album will also serve as the soundtrack for a future documentary about Hood.

Hood also continues to seek advocacy to support his quest to get signed again with another NBA team in order to use that financial support to make a positive difference in the lives of others.  Once signed to a NBA contract he is committed to donating up to 25 percent of his NBA salary to organizations that benefit children with life-threatening illnesses or the families of military wounded warriors. NBA SCOUTING REPORT – Excellent ball handler with either hand. Has a pass first mentality.  Runs the offense well.  Very efficient.  Smooth shooting form and follow through.  Shoots better off the catch than off the dribble.  Consistent jumper from mid-range.  Shoots a high percentage from the floor.  Capable of stepping out and knocking down the 3 when needed.  Highly capable of creating his own shot, but at times dribbles too much.  Needs to improve decision-making when leaving feet.
